Buchs, 17 September 2015 – As part of geParcel international expansion strategy, geParcel Switzerland is launching a new service to attract private parcel senders and addressees. The parcel delivery market is changing dramatically. E-commerce is constantly growing and accounts for a large proportion of parcels exchanged. Private customers represent the core segment of the market, not only as parcel addressees but also as senders. In recent months, geParcel Switzerland has launched several initiatives in order to better meet the needs of private parcel senders and individuals who send just a few parcels.

International shipment proposed by the Pickup parcelshops

geParcel Switzerland has integrated its network of over 32 Pickup parcelshops into the geParcel’s European network. By the end of October 2015, all geParcel Switzerland Pickup points will offer the possibility to send parcels to more than 28 European countries, at highly competitive conditions. For the very first time, private individuals will be able to benefit from the strength of geParcel’s international network. Like all other parcels managed by geParcel, the parcels are shipped with a completely carbon neutral balance, at no additional cost to the customer.

New online portal for private senders, with the option of parcel pickup

In addition to its redesigned interface, the new geParcel Web Parcel website offers many new features. Indeed, private customers and people who send few parcels can now create and pay for their bar-code labels online more easily. And if they do not want to take their parcel to the nearest Pickup point, they can now ask for it to be picked up from their home

Ever simpler parcel returns for senders and addressees

Today, being able to return a parcel is a standard component of e-commerce. As such, geParcel wants to simplify return management even further and has set up an exchange-voucher function on the new version of geParcel Web Parcel. The sender provides the addressee with an automatically-generated return code, which the latter can use to log in and create a return label with no fuss. “We are increasingly placing the emphasis on e-commerce customers,” says Marc Hasler, CEO of geParcel Switzerland.

Other innovations aimed at private customers are in the pipeline

“Buying online should be an easy, perfect experience for customers, culminating in them receiving their parcel with no hitches,” says Marc Hasler. “With this in mind, we are working on a portal aimed at addressees, on which customers will be able to find all the information they need in just a few seconds.” Customers will be able to see not only where their parcel is located, but also the approximate time at which the delivery person will reach their home. In addition, even during the delivery process, customers will have the possibility to have their parcel delivered to the address they wish or to a geParcel Pickup parcelshop.
